Artificial Intelligence: advice for students

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is developing at a fast rate, and it now includes chatbots, such as ChatGPT.  As an IGI student it is important that you understand whether you are allowed to use AI as part of your studies or not, for which tasks, to what extent, and how it should be referenced. You can start by referring to the IGI Academic Integrity Policy and related resources available on the IGI website and on Moodle. The unit outlines and assessment information will provide you with useful instructions on the work that is required from you and the tasks you need to complete. Do not hesitate to ask if you have questions, concerns or you require clarifications on a particular topic. Understanding academic integrity and the IGI expectations in regard to the use of AI for your studies will help you avoid breaches and instances of academic misconduct that may have a negative impact on your studies.

In addition to the abovementioned information and resources, we also recommend that you refer to external sources such as TEQSA website. TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency) has published a number of useful academic integrity resources for students, including on artificial intelligence. We recommend the page Understanding Academic Integrity https://www.teqsa.gov.au/students/understanding-academic-integrity packed with information, advice and resources, including Artificial intelligence advice for students https://www.teqsa.gov.au/students/artificial-intelligence-advice-students
